After a few disappointing Japanese experiences elsewhere, had to come back to fresh and yummy OMAKASE, fresh uni, amaebi, monkfish liver, hamachi Kama. Love this place. Gotta show up early. I hate waiting so I showed up when they first opened.
I feel so satisfied. -

Saturday night around 8:30pm was busy (as expected), so my bf and I waited about 15 min for a table. There's a small parking lot beside the restaurant. We weren't that hungry, but we've heard good things about Amami and were in the area so we had to check it out! Here's what we got:
Omakase ($38): 10 pieces of chef's choice nigiri. This is such a good deal! First of all, the pieces of fish are longer than your average cut. So some had 1 piece of sashimi "extra"! If you're not too hungry, it's a perfect option for sharing. The quality of the fish was great; super fresh and tasty. The variety of nigiri and choice of ingredients was closer to that of an omakase-specialty restaurant. Caviar? I'll take it! Easily a 5/5
Super Scallop Roll ($13): Spicy scallop and avocado inside, topped with albacore and wasabi sauce wrapped in soy paper. A solid roll! I'm not a fan of sauces in my rolls (I'm kind of a purist), but the wasabi sauce wasn't too overpowering. 5/5
We also got a free scoop of green tea ice cream at the end! Definitely check this restaurant out if you want omakase but don't want to shell out an entire paycheck. -

Probably the best and cheapest omakase I've ever had! Chef's choice of on a platter, so it's not delivered one-by-one. It was $38 so it's pretty cheap for what you're getting! The quality of the fish was excellent, plus the fact they had fresh wasabi. You can definitely tell the difference between wasabi from a paste versus fresh grinded wasabi.
The service was honestly pretty bad in my opinion... they catered towards those that spoke the same language and delivered their food before my table despite them getting seated last. It took a very very long time to get 2 omakases and 2 sushi rolls, AND a long time to receive the bill after asking for it. I wish the service was on par with their food! -

This is probably my favorite sushi place throughout the Bay Area. Sushi is fresh service is awesome. Free ice cream for dessert! And on top of that for free?! What more can a girl ask for?! I come all the way from SF just to come here and it's worth the drive. The vibe is good server are nice and attentive despite the busyness. Omakase is sooo worth it! Fresh wasabi along with the omakase. You get 10
Pieces chefs cut nigiri for $38. Some pieces melt in your literally especially the toro! Amami you definitely gained some new regulars. I'll definitely be back maybe next week?! -

Great local sushi place. When you find a good place for sushi, you'll end up coming here a lot. We came here based on a few recommendations from friends and glad we did. We sat at the sushi bar, it's a good way to chat with the chefs and awe what kind of creative ideas they come up with. Sashimi platter was amazing and so filling. We also got a couple of other dishes to try, fried tofu, octopus salad and lobster.
